This painting was inspired by my previous Robot Hand painting. My goal
was to portray the human anatomy in robot form. I tried to take the
anatomy a step further than my previous robot paintings by conveying
different muscles and tendons. Additionally I wanted to express some
time of implied emotion to the piece as well, but you can take from it
what ever you would like.
The painting is 20" x 12" and 3/4" deep with white edges on canvas. If you are interested in purchasing this piece, it is for sale on my Shop. (https://www.etsy.com/shop/AtelierLambert)

Star Wars Space Battle - Acrylic Painting
I finished this painting about a month ago and I forgot to post it. This painting was
inspired by my collection of Star Wars Micro-Machines and Rogue One. I
have always been a huge fan of the space battles in the Star Wars. I often would fast
forward through a lot of the other stuff just to watch them. I tried to
incorporate a few new details from the movies such as "Blue Squadron". The film had not come out yet on DVD so I tried to get the Blue Squadron details as best as I could from the Rogue One trailers. I
always wondered what a Star Destroyer hanger looked like, I tried my
best to find reference. I should have waited a month or so because I just got caught up on Rebels and they seem to show Star Destroyer hangers often.
I started this project before I moved across state lines. For a long time it was just a star less sky with some sketchy fighters. I tried to put the fighters into groups with wing-men and such. I've been working with acrylic paints more lately just for the sake of drying time. One of the things that annoyed me about this piece was the canvas' texture. I wish I would have worked on a smoother surface because it was sometimes hard to get detail work to not look feathery. In all it was a fun project!

Captain America - In Color
Last night I opened up Photoshop and started to tinker around with some of my old illustrations. I wanted to keep experimenting with different ways of coloring my work. This time instead of trying to be detailed I thought about trying out a more speedy process, and this is what came out of it. It's not the cleanest, but it gets the idea across. I probably will try to refine this process and make it look a little better it I use it again.
Additionally I was messing around with my new digital brushes (Kyle Webster Brushes) doing some water color style paintings. This was before I started my Captain America coloring, so I just took out the sky and placed it in the background of Cap. Things are getting interesting and I promise new art is in the works!

Boba Fett - Kyle Webster Brushes and Flatting Colors
Hello there, so I know that this isn't the newest art, but I recently bought the Kyle Webster Watercolor brush set. I really wanted to test out these brushes on something and not have to create a whole new ink drawing. Plus I thought it would be interesting to put it up against my previous illustration done with real watercolors. My goal was not to create a replica, but to find some interesting ways that I can use these digital colors. I wanted the colors to have a somewhat flat look, with rough highlights, and soft darker areas. I am excited to use these brushes again and continue to find fun ways to use them. If you would like to purchase them visit: Kyle Webster Brushes they are well worth your money!
Additionally I know it is overkill for an image this small image, but I want to start developing better coloring habits so I created my own "Flats" for this image. So flatting an image is the process of lassoing in all the large areas in your illustration that you are going to color and coloring them in with any color. This allows you to keep this on a separate layer and select them later to selectively paint in later. Here is what mine looked like. Looks kinda cool. This is my first time trying this process but it wasn't too bad and in truth did make coloring way faster. If you want help with this process check out Paolo Rivera's Blog Post on the subject, he is amazingly helpful.

Boba Fett Watercolor Illustration
As promised I painted in Boba Fett with my new watercolor set. I was really excited to put these to the test. I haven't really used watercolor that much but it wasn't too frustrating. I mainly tried to work in layers and doing washes of color. On another note, I've been reading James Gurney's: Color and Light and getting some inspiration. One of the things that I am taking from the book is to be more limited and thoughtful with the colors I am using.

Boba Fett Ink Illustration
Christmas came and went, which means that I received some new art supplies! Thanks family and friends! I'm starting to get settled into my new home in Florida and have time for trying out my new gadgets. So this is one of the drawings that I didn't get a chance to ink at the end of inktober. I wanted to take my time and enjoy the process with this one. I started out knowing that I wanted it to eventually be watercolor, so this is on watercolor paper. For Christmas I got some new Winsor Newton Series 7 brushes (size 0 and 000), aka extra fancy brushes that make fine lines. I was amazed how smooth and easy to work with they were. For the gun and some of the armor I used my quill pen and I am fairly happy with the results today.
The next step is going to be watercolor. I received some watercolors for Christmas that I am itching to use.

K2S0 Doodles
Just messing around on my Cinteq at work. I saw Rogue One last night and it was amazing! I will be moving to Florida with in a few days so this might be the last post for a while.
Additionally here is a birthday/last day of work poster created for me at my job. Scarif kind of looks like Florida. Pew Pew! Enjoy!

Daredevil Watercolor
Hello, today I wanted to share a watercolor painting from a few months ago that I had forgotten to post. I created this for my brother's graduation from TCU. He is a huge Daredevil fan and season 2 of Netflix's Daredevil had just come out. Unfortunately the photograph is through a glass frame, but you get the idea. Enjoy!

1990's Cyclops
This is one of the inktober sketches that I didn't get a chance to ink. I couldn't go to sleep last night so I finally got up and started to ink it. This was the version of Cyclops that I grew up with. Looking back now his costume is pretty weird and I wonder what is it's function. Why so many straps and pockets?

A Few of My Favorite Marvels
Hello again, it has been close to if not more than a week since posting last. I must say Inktober got crazy there at the end. I have been sitting on the last few sketches for a week now trying to get the energy to ink them. Come on it was Halloween and the World Series, what's a guy supposed to do. So this was technically Inktober Day 26's artwork.
I started this drawing as just a doodle on a sketch pad during work. Wolverine was the first character that I got down, then Spiderman, Captain, and finally Iron Man. I have drawn these characters so much that I didn't have to look at photos or reference in regards to their postures. So ultimately I felt good about that. When it came time to ink the drawing a few nights ago I realized that I had just drawn the characters and no background, so it looked like they were just floating around. I decided to draw a city.
I am trying to get better at spotting my blacks. This means finding those large areas of ink that are supposed to convey shadows or just conveying a dark colored object. I've always had a hard time with this because after I made all the linework (think like a coloring book) I always assumed that I was finished. What I am finding is creating shadows with ink gives the drawing depth and makes the finished illustration more interesting.
On a side note I have started to put my artwork up for sale on my etsy store:

Wonder Woman Commission Painting
And now for something completely different. This is a commissioned painting that I have been working on throughout the madness of October/Inktober. The client wanted a piece that showed action without a villain fight scene. I wanted the piece to have some story to it so I included Themyscria, Wonder Woman's origin island. Additionally the client wanted her costume to look like the one depicted in Batman V Superman but with more color. Also I wanted her to look a little more muscular and the actress looked in the movie. What's awesome is that it just so happens to be Wonder Woman's 75th anniversary, so yay for Wonder Woman! And finally, Bob Ross was on as I painted the background...trade secret, that ones for free.

Inktober Day 25 - Superman
Today's word was "tired" and boy do I feel it. So I decided to draw something familiar and fun, Superman. Last night I popped in the 1940s Max Fleischer Superman cartoons. I received them a year or two ago as a gift from my Grandmother who is always looking to help inspire my artwork. Well I'd say her gift was a success, because those old Superman cartoons are amazing! I love all of the detail that was put into the animation and world building. It is no wonder that these cartoons inspired the DC animated universe.

Inktober Day 24 - Jango Fett
This is Jango Fett from Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones. He is a Bounty Hunter, father of Boba Fett, and he gets his head chopped off by Mace Windu. I don't really have much to say about this one except he is a cool dude.
Inktober Day 23 - Speed Demons
This illustration depicts one of my favorite episodes from Superman: The Animated Series. The episode is titled "Speed Demons" and is about Superman and The Flash competing in a charity round the world race. This was one of the first episodes that brought in another hero from the DC Comics Universe. In my opinion Superman: The Animated Series is the definitive version of Superman for me and one of my favorite memories from childhood. I have just finished season 2 of CW's The Flash and I was wanting to draw Barry Allen aka The Flash.
I had to bring out my copy of The Human Figure in Motion by Muybridge for this illustration. I get really frustrated when I draw people running and it helps to have some photos to look at. Additionally I am not so sure I am happy with the drawing as a whole, but I am falling behind!

Inktober Day 22 - Luke Cage
I finally finished Luke Cage on Netflix this weekend and I really wanted to draw the character! The show is amazing by the way. So this is Luke Cage aka Power Man, he is a Hero for Hire. When I was younger I really heard nothing about him, but eventually he was a playable character in video games and I was like who is this dude that just walks around in a T-Shirt? After working at a bookstore I got my hands on a reprint of Luke Cage's origin story and it was awesome. Since then I have a few "Power Man and Iron Fist" comics. His skin is impenetrable and he has super strength. I don't really want to say much more, just watch the series, it's great!
I needed to get this illustration finished rather quickly, so I stuck to my brush pens. Because I drew the pencils with line weights in mind, inking was rather quick. I liked how in the show his clothes had a tendency to become hole ridden, so I wanted to convey that and ricochet bullets.

Inktober Day 21 - Thanos
Gradually catching up! So this is Thanos, he is pretty much the ultimate villain in the Marvel Universe. I say this because of the weapon he is known for wielding, The Infinity Gauntlet. The Gauntlet is made up of Infinity Gems, basically the doomsday items in all the Marvel movies. When these Gems are put together in the form of the Gauntlet, the user basically wields the power of a god. If you are interested in Thanos or the Gauntlet I suggest reading "The Infinity Gauntlet" saga or just wait for the next Avengers film.
As for the illustration, I really enjoyed using the sable brush on this. I tried something new today, instead of dipping my brush into the ink well, I poured out the ink in to a shallow bowl. Turns out I was picking up way too much ink and it was hard to control my line quality. Now I can see how much ink I am picking up. I decided to just ink in the background and leave his body without any shading so I could look at my lines.

Inktober Day 18 - Escape from America (Snake Plissken)
So today's word is "escape" which made me think of Kurt Russell's character Snake Plissken from the films "Escape from New York" and "Escape from LA". Additionally tonight is the night of the final debate, which made me think of all of the people that stated they would move to Canada is Donald Trump wins the Presidency. I find that to be funny that people would do that, so I attempted to make light of it. As for the election and my views, I'll keep them to myself, but I will say that the way that that man talks about women infuriates me and I cannot respect that. Boom! I am done, enjoy the artwork!
Inktober Day17 - Darth Vader in Tie Fighter
Here is a illustration that I have been working on for the past few days. I can't say that I am really happy with it. I knew it was going to be a challenge to ink Darth with all of the black that is on his helmet. The next issue I had was finding reference for the inside of his Tie Fighter. After I inked in black the drawing looked really weird so I added some grey and red.

Inktober Day 16 - Godzilla
I am a day behind, but Sunday's magic word was "wet". So I made Godzilla, the original environmental activist. See Godzilla's not really a bad guy, he is just trying to protect us from pollution and alien threats such as King Ghidorah and Mecha Godzilla. To my understanding Godzilla was created after nuclear testing in the Pacific Ocean reacted with the remains of a dinosaur. Since then he has been a misunderstood reminded of natures power!
For this drawing I just stuck to my brush pens. Be sure to listen to the linked song when viewing, I know I was humming it the whole time I was drawing. Also check out Blue Oyster Cult - "Godzilla", ha ha it is great.

Inktober Day 15 - Momaw Nadon
This is Momaw Nadon, aka Hammerhead. He was one of the characters that you see for a split second in the original Star Wars movie Cantina scene. The word of the day was "relax", so I thought of one of the Cantina visitors relaxing with a beer.
Today I felt like breaking out the water colors. I started off with a simple sketch knowing that I was going to watercolor the majority of the details. I used watercolor paper and found that my brushes have a tendency to bleed on the paper so I switched to my brush pens. Luckily they were waterproof. I just used basic watercolors for the coloring.
